Thank you for the informative research. Dee is not about students, she is about power. And sadly they break the rules to garner more power. LBUSD deserves board members invested in students and the future
Well researched, Erika. The 0.4% across 245 motions is the bit that stopped me. That is not independence, that is a bloc. And Dee Perry's own words do more damage than the numbers.
We won’t forget @ the June 4 meeting she said she was "completely blindsided" on the separation and "a little bit in the dark" on the appointment, then voted yes on both. Those were the two biggest decisions this board has made. A trustee who does not know what she is voting on has stopped governing. Joan Malczewski was shut out of the same process and voted no, and said why on the record. That is the job.
Thirty-five years in these classrooms is a real milestone and deserves real thanks, but it is not a qualification for another four years!!
The graceful thing would be to withdraw now, take the community's thanks, and let it stand as a career rather than a contest. Better to bow out than be voted out.
And when she WAS elected as President, she couldn’t give it up fast enough: “Please don’t nominate me.” She barely lasted a year, so all of that drama to realize what the board majority realized way back then: she “wasn’t very good at it,” something she admitted at a Back to School staff breakfast.
A trustee who insists she has no agency when it comes to her voting record is suffering from Stockholm syndrome at best. She’s lying to herself and us at worst ….
This article filled in so many gaps. Thank you for the research and time spent on this!
