What Am I Missing?
Share documents, corrections, story ideas, or firsthand information related to LBUSD.
Some of the most important contexts we need as community members do not appear on a board agenda, in a district announcement, or at a public meeting. A Public Record for Laguna Schools welcomes information that may help everyone understand district decisions, board actions, public spending, school policies, and issues affecting students, families, staff, and residents.
What to send
Helpful information may include:
Public records, contracts, emails, agendas, presentations, or official correspondence
Information about an upcoming board action, policy change, or community concern
Firsthand context about an issue affecting LBUSD
A correction or clarification related to something published here
A story idea or question that deserves closer attention
You can include written information, links, screenshots, and image files in a private Substack message. Please provide as much context as you reasonably can, including relevant dates, names, meeting information, and how you obtained the material.
Message me directly
The easiest way to share information is to send me a private message through Substack.
Please share at the beginning of your message if you have concerns about how your name or information may be used.
You do not need to write anything formal. Tell me what happened, explain why you believe it matters, and attach any relevant links, screenshots, or images.
How information is handled
Information may be reviewed, verified, and compared with public records or other sources before it is used. Sending information does not guarantee that it will be published or that you will receive an immediate response.
Documents will not be presented as verified simply because they were submitted. I may ask follow-up questions or seek independent confirmation before relying on the information.
Privacy and confidentiality
Please do not send confidential student records, medical information, Social Security numbers, private contact information, or other sensitive personal information that is not necessary to understand the issue.
You may ask to remain unnamed, but confidentiality should not be assumed simply because information was submitted. If protecting your identity is important, please say so before sharing sensitive details so we can discuss what can and cannot reasonably be protected.
I take privacy concerns seriously, particularly when information involves students, families, or district employees. However, Substack messages should not be treated as anonymous or as a guaranteed-secure method of communication.
Corrections
Accuracy matters to me. If you believe something published by A Public Record for Laguna Schools is incorrect, please include:
The article and statement at issue
What you believe is inaccurate
The correct information
Any supporting document or source
Substantive errors will be corrected and clearly noted on the original article.
Before sending
By submitting information, you confirm that you have the right to share it. Please do not send material obtained through unlawful access or include unnecessary private information about students or other individuals.
